I suppose it depends on your perspective.  There is more room for the offense to fall off (it was a top-25 offense in 2020), while there is much more room for the defense to improve (it was ranked ~100 in 2020).  But on an absolute scale, the offense is likely to be better than the defense.  The offense likely will drop off some, and the defense may improve, especially if previously injured players come back, but I doubt that the defense will rank higher than the offense next year.  I see us having an offense that is better than the median FBS team, and a defense that is worse than the median FBS team.
