My law school buddies and I LOVED Keith Jones. He and John Ravelli were our big weapons in our three years (though we were gone before Keith's senior year).
In those days, there weren't many fans in Maples. One of my buddies was a full throated New Yorker who could definitely make himself heard over the (non) crowd. He would shout "Listen to me, Keith, not the coach. Drive the ball. Don't pass it."
We loved watching him play. We didn't win much in those days, but Keith Jones alone made it worthwhile to trek over to Maples. [Ravelli was great, too. But Keith had more flash.]
I've been to his deli and liked it enough to go back the next day, though I had no idea it was his. Wish I would have, as I would have told him how much fun he helped us have back in the day.
RIP, Keith. We love ya.
