The band show at the Fiesta Bowl was really pretty tame and watered down by our standards plus it was almost impossible to hear the announcer. I read the script later and how anyone could get all that offended by a script based upon confusing lyrics from "Oklahoma!" is beyond me - but believe me they were!
Here's 20 pages of OSU fans explaining how much they hate, hate, hate the Stanford band without ever referencing what actually offended them from the shows. They probably couldn't hear the announcer either but were SURE they should be deeply offended.

The other issue the Oklahoma fans bring up was the band playing after the game during their award ceremony rather than doffing their hat at the greatness of Cowboy football. That was probably an unwise move on the band's part but I suspect the OSU fans had made up their minds to be easily offended long before that.
So ... the band watered down the script to be as minimally offensive as possible while still being "LSJUMB" and the OSU fans are squealing with outrage. Screw 'em. Next time the band should load both barrels and go after the ethics of T-Boone Pickens, their strangely violent mascot and the wonders of living in a fly-over state.  Let's give 'em a reason to be outraged.

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.
