I have no idea how Stanford players are developing off the court, but given the apparent on-court stagnation of Dwight Powell and Anthony Brown, I'd say Stephen is a perceptive young man. I've been a supporter of Dawkins in his first couple of years, but his failure to really get his players to develp their basketball skills last season (NIT run not withstanding) was extremely disappointing.Â
Don't think that's fair to Dawkins. Powell and Brown were injured almost all of last season. Brown's injury--Osgood-Schlatter--is an extremely tough thing to get over. My brother quit tennis for three or four months because of it.
At any rate, whatever else you can criticize Dawkins for, it sure as heck isn't recruiting. Losing one player shouldn't change our opinion on this front.
(Addition: Considering its access to a higher class of recruit, I wouldn't term Georgetown's player development efforts any brobdingnagian boon on this front.)
