I'm sorta surprised that T&F scores
  10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
for the first 8 finishers in individual events.
It appears that most finals had 9 competitors.

I imagine that's a long tradition. 
Is there a reason they haven't gone to A&B finals like swimming? (A has the top 8 qualifiers; B has the next 8;  In PAC-12 swimming, they even have a C final)
