I'm as chip on the shoulder Texan here, but Roberton3 was going a bit overboard.
Other than a Malcolm Gladwellian analysis that takes into consideration the cost of in state tuition, I don't think anyone, in Texas or otherwise, thinks they can make an argument for the superiority or a UT undergraduate education over Stanford.
UT is suffering through what lots of state schools are suffering through. Just one of many unhappy public school families.
