I kind of like this idea. When I was young, I used to have difficulty sleeping in hotels. So, I think this approach is interesting -- just accept the fact that you'll get one night's bad sleep, but try to limit it to just that one night.
Note that the coach is implicitly acknowledging how problematic it is to schedule cross-country trips during the season, yet we keep doing this. This isn't even the only one this year -- the team flies cross-country for Vanderbilt also. Maybe the SEC Network will be sneaky and schedule it as a 6AM game.
My recollection is that many 18 & 19 year old students have *never* stayed in a hotel before. So I wonder if the team will be a better road team this year because they got used to living out of a hotel last year.
But with the 9AM KState game, there are risks no matter what you try. If you don't have a walkthrough before the game, the play could be particularly sloppy, especially during the first half, and during the first game of the year, with a new quarterback and a new center.
It could be an ugly, sloppy game.
