Stanford didn't play any exhibitions but Cal Poly SLO had two, beating Fresno State and Westmont (small Christian college near Santa Barbara). And Stanford was ahead in every statistical category (including fouls), so it was a nice win. But historically Cal Poly SLO is anything but a women's soccer powerhouse; their most recent winning season was in 2014, although their season was canceled last year.
So I'm grateful for the win, but more happy that Stanford will have three games under their collective belts before the brutal road trip to the state of North Carolina.

If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)
