David Shaw is nothing if not confident in his players. My question is does he show too much confidence in them?Â
It's one thing to say a guy is a very good player and will be valuable to the team. It's another to put them on pedestals by saying they are the best in the country, etc., something Shaw does quite a bit. I mean right now he is on record with:
* This OL could start for many D1 programs
* Wayne Lyons is a future AA
* Alex Carter is an NFL Corner
* Ryan Hewitt is the most versatile football player in America
* Stepfan Taylor is the most underrated RB in America
I know Harbaugh never shied from expectations and felt no compunction about talking up his guys. Shaw just seems to have taken effusive praise to another level, and in some cases before guys have ever done anything on the field. It may be healthy, unhealthy, show Shaw's football knowledge, or have no bearing on anything at all. I'm curious what Stanford fans think.
