I too had noticed Shaw's tendency towards excessive praise. But it doesn't ring quite as true as Harbaugh's enthusiasm. Harbaugh was a true believer. Even if something he's saying is clearly not true (e.g., the niners were never pursuing Peyton), he says it with such conviction that you believe he believes it. I think that confidence was infectious to his players. The rest of the world scoffed when he said Stanford will bow to no program, but inside the locker room, I bet those guys bought in. I wonder if Shaw's declaration of player support will have similar effect.

I just wish he had a player at QB he felt confident enough to boast about to the media.
