Having Whiteside back is big, but he and Chris McCain are both no more than 230. When you play a 3-4 defense like the Bares do, you need the OLBs to be big enough to hold the edge on outside runs. Whiteside might be stout enough, but McCain is 6-6 with a high center of gravity, so having Whiteside back is significant. Having Fortt will give them four high quality guys at ILB.Â
