The first 2012 Stanford Olympics medal is won!

Kristian Ipsen (right), '15, and diving partner Troy Dumais win Olympic bronze in Men's Synchronized 3m Springboard:
Ipsen, 19, a Clayton native, is considered the rising star of U.S. diving. Dumais, 32, is competing in his fourth Olympics.

Ipsen and Dumais flubbed their opening dive, falling to seventh out of eight teams. But they progressively got better as the competition continued and were in position to take a silver medal until a slight mistake on the fifth of six dives.
Ipsen is the second athlete from Clayton to win a medal Wednesday. He followed Kara Kohler, who medaled in the women's quadruple sculls.
