Interesting observation.
2013 Shaw coached team vs Kelly coached team:
Shaw Team: 274 yds rushing at 4.2 yds/carry; total offense edge = 65 yds; scoring drives of 8:26, 7:23; TOP = 42+ mins
Kelly Team: 62 yds rushing at 2.6 yds/rush; 80% of yds passing; TD drives of 1:21, 2:51.
2021 Shaw coached team vs Kelly coached team:
Shaw Team: 67 yds rushing at 3.0 yds/rush; 81% of yds passing; TD drives of 0:10, 2:06.
Kelly Team: 204 yds rushing at 3.9 yds/carry; total offense edge = 95 yds; scoring drives of 8:00, 6:40; TOP = 37+ mins
The two coaches have fully swapped positions and styles.
Sorry, don't intend to be a wise guy here, but the stats you quote at first are indeed the 2013 Oregon - Stanford matchup. Mark Helfrich was the coach, not Kelly (who had gone on to Philadelphia). Although I would suspect that Kelly's stats and philosophies carried over to Helfrich's first year.
Whoops.
You are quite right and I was mistaken.
Good thing I buried it ... as noted.
Will find some way to patch up the post.
