Some thoughts after a good night's sleep (and a fun round of golf):
- First and foremost, it was awesome to be able to tailgate and watch a live game again! Reminded me how much I missed it
- The Red Zone was awesome. It was announced as the largest student crowd ever (since the stadium was re-done), and they were into the game and loud.
- We lost this game in the trenches. Not the only problem (by far), but our inability to block (run or pass) and our inability to stop their run were the main reasons we lost
- Our thin DB corps was exposed. Too many freshmen/redshirt freshmen had to play and got a baptism by fire
- I'm thankful that DTR can't throw on the run (he's horrible). We'd have lost by at least twice as much if he did
- Damuni needs to be properly coached on how to use the sideline and not overpursue. He got burned on cutbacks at least three times
- Shaw still sucks at clock management, although it should be noted that the Chipster had to call two TOs in the first half to avoid delay penalties while Shaw didn't have to call any. Letting UCLA burn a full play clock without calling a TO on 3rd down is inexcusable. There's not a single scenario in which more time gets burned off the clock.
- Facilities was worse than all of the above COMBINED. Vaccination check tents were understaffed, entry gates were understaffed (metal detectors and ticket readers), ticket readers are slow, WiFi was worse than cellular, and PA was blaring music over the band during timeouts. Didn't try the new automated concession ordering kiosks
