I remember in the past, I and others would still be on a high over a USC win let alone both USC and Oregon in the same season.
Now, they are shorter and weaker dopamine reactions.
Just a random observation.
Could be part of a "college sports not all that big a deal" mindset as part of Covid hangover.
Could be that SC is a bad team this year and Oregon pretty clearly WAY overrated as #3 team in the country; thus Ws not seen as that grand.
Could be that SF Giants are taking up a lot of fan mindshare in these parts, sucking away interest/buzz from the Cardinal.
But I'll say this: if Stanford somehow beats ASU tonight (which I don't expect), then Cardinal fans can legitimately look to a possibly very good season. Right now the record range is 5-7 to 7-5, which is the definition of unremarkable. Beat ASU (barring crazy flukey W), and 9-3 is conceivable. So excitement/enthusiasm level could ratchet up from what we've seen with a W tonight.
