Sorry for the lack of preview/interim results I was away for the weekend.
The men's golf team finished 5th in a very strong field of 15 teams that included ten of the Top 30. Unlike many of the previous men's and women's tournaments, there were plenty of birdies to be had, with all but 3 teams and nearly half of players finishing under par.
T3 Vilips -12
T23 Thorbjornsen -3
T37 Brown E
T43 Yang +1
T59 Shimp +5
The men's team had been ranked 4th coming into the tournament, which I think even Coach Ray would say was too high. But fall season rankings are pretty volatile, with a somewhat shorter season and not much of a track record on which to base them. I personally don't pay attention to golf team rankings until at least the end of February, although I think the women's team might be the exception with the way they have pretty much blown away the competition in all three tournaments so far.
The men's team concludes their fall season Nov 8-10 at Pebble Beach, where I have offered to be a substitute as I still have some eligibility remaining. The women's team's final fall tournament is Nov 1-3 at Nanea on the Big Island.
