I watched that game at Double D's sports bar & grill in Los Gatos. When the game started, there were several other games on -- NotreDame, the Chicago Cubs, several other football games. Only a dozen or two people were watching Stanford-U.S.C. As the second half played out, with Stanford still hanging tough, more people started watching the game. People started to arrive for dinner in the 4th quarter. By this time, everyone was watching the Stanford game, including a lot of people who were standing around waiting to be seated. Nobody was leaving. The place was packed. It was almost entirely a Stanford crowd, except for a table of U.S.C. guys. When Osaisai picked the ball off with 3 minutes remaining, people began to think it was possible that Stanford really might win this thing. When Sherman converted the 4th and 20, the place roared. When Bradford scored the TD on 4th down, the place went berserk. It was just amazing. But the true Stanford fans in the place knew in their hearts that there was still enough time for Stanford to blow it. The real celebration broke out with McNally's interception. It was just incredible . . . what a memory!
