Just cruising around seeing what was up with Duke, our second opponent. They just had their final scrimmage prior to playing Florida Intl. University next weekend. Two things jumped out in the comments by Duke fans:
1) They got good coverage from the NC papers. Starting QB Sean Renfree (a one time Stanford recruit) has recovered from last season's injury and looks sharp...except... the final scrimmage of the preseason matched the 1st Offense and 1st Defense against the backups. The local press thought they looked good.
2) The math varies, but estimates by Duke fans who track these things believe they are 12-15 serious injuries down from 84 scholarship players.  Seems like an incredible number of injuries, but the Duke fans put names to the tally. This leaves them with approx. 70- 72 players, approximately the same kind of scholarship player limitations imposed on USC, but without the remaining talent that USC has. Reportedly Duke had 25 walk-on players at the start of Fall practice.
