That's not a good way to measure it as they may have been out enough to not build up stats.
The were missing
Diamond Miller - Last year, All Big-10 first team, 17+ points, guard
Katie Benzan - Last year, All Big-10 2nd team, Led NCAA in 3PT% at 50%, AP All American Honorable Mention
Faith Masonius - Last year, avg 13.3 min/game. 11pts per 40 minutes playing time.
So, they were missing two starters(I presume) who would have had an impact. They were also forced to play without as much bench to provide rest.
This has been pointed out in other posts but the Maryland team we beat was the same Maryland team that beat current #5 Baylor. Benzan and Masonius didn't play in the Baylor game. And Diamond Miller did play but only 11 minutes and she was 1 for 6 from the field. We could have easily lost to the Maryland team we played as they are capable of beating a top 5 team with the lineup they had on the floor. But instead we blew them out, so we should take that as some sign of the progress and development of this team. Yes turnovers, free throw shooting and making layups all have to improve. But, this team is moving in the right direction and has a very high upside.
