FWIW, promoting a coordinator to HC within seems to be one of the most successful, Home Run laden ways to pick the next coach.
I wouldn’t already be celebrating Notre Dame’s pick, that seems… premature. I see a lot of positive statements on how Freeman coaches with character and charisma, and has a mastery of defense. If he can get the right assistants, especially on offense, that is a dangerous combination.
