That substantial offer was prepared on November 25th and eleven days later no extension has been signed, so he's definitely not off the market. He's in a good spot at Baylor but born and raised in California. He was definitely interested in the USC job, not sure about his interest in Oregon.
This cycle has taught us that even the most unexpected hires are possible and that schools are willing to offer mega contracts to get who they want. The Oregon situation will be fascinating given their resources and how well positioned they are from a competitive standpoint at the moment. Usually when a big job opens up (e.g. USC, Florida, LSU) it's because on-field performance has been lacking and/or recruiting needs to be upgraded. Oregon has disappointed somewhat on the field but is ready-made for immediate major success under the right coach.
