Indeed! My former trainer at UCSB played for the Gauchos in the late 1980s/early 90s. She told me about a time when her team played Stanford, and the Gauchos were called for so many fouls that they finished with 4 players.

I remember that game, was thinking of it when I wrote my comment. As I recall, when there were only 4 players on the floor, the ref went to the UCSB coach and asked when they were going to put in their 5th player -- and the answer was, they weren't because they didn't have one -- or something like that.
