The team played USC in Maples on Tuesday, traveled ca. 900 miles to Pullman, WA to play WSU on Thursday, and will travel another 300 miles to Seattle to play UW on Saturday afternoon.
Stanford, up to #72 in the NET rankings, will face the #164 Huskies with an opportunity for a rare road sweep in conference play. In fact, Stanford improved its road (not including neutral) record to 1-3 at WSU, so this would be a major statement re: how the team has improved since November.
UW is 7-7 (2-2) and 4-4 at home. Their conference wins are @ Utah and vs Cal, losses @ Arizona and @ Colorado. Nothing jumps out in their team stats other than a 6.1 favorable margin in turnovers per game. Given Stanford's propensity for TOs, this will be something to watch, IMO.
If UW has a star player, it's graduate student Terrell Brown Jr. who, via Shoreline CC, Seattle U. and Arizona, is averaging 20.7 pts and 4.1 rebounds per game and on the season has 56 assists to only 26 TOs, 37 steals and 7 blocks. Daejon Davis, Brown Jr.'s cousin, is a full-time starter and is averaging 8.5 pts per game.
Brown's averages have "star player" written all over them;
Daejon will be out for blood tonight - you can bank on that;
UW has been playing better recently, I believe, which is cause for concern.
I'm a bit surprised Stanford is favored at all ("pick-em" . . . maybe).
