In reality, he tried to put this game on his back and beat the Trojans on his own. He made his points on two early 3s, a couple of dunks on good assists, and a couple of prayer shots that somehow made it through the hoop. All but 1 of his 9 missed shots were poor attempts trying to beat SC's bigs in the paint. It got to the point that I would cringe when he got the ball because I knew he would try to beat SC's defense on his own, disregarding his teammates. Hasse probably kept him in as long as he did (21 minutes) because he was the leading scorer on our team. Fortunately, Hasse benched him with 15 minutes to play and he didn't see the court again.
Delaire has good skills, but his confidence outweighs his talent. It seems that Hasse has recognized this problem and hopefully we'll see more of Angel and Raynaud on the court.
By contrast, Ingram has mad talent but he plays team ball. He only had 12 points, but he took 5 less shots than Delaire and had 5 assists. Delaire had 1 assist in 21 minutes.
Nailed it -- and of course this is a recurring problem with Delaire. I do like the fact that the coaches left both Delaire and Kisunas out for the last 15:38 and gave Raynaud and Murrell some run in addition to Angel, Keefe, Ingram and Jones.
