My <TOTALLY> uninformed guess.
JB on track to graduate with a degree in Poli Sci
JB applies to PS (or related) grad programs including Stanford, which is a small dept and by inference, which has a VERY limited # of slots for Masters students
JB learns she is not accepted to Stanford, but does get in to 1+ somewhat attractive grad program(s) somewhere else
JB enters the portal
and now she's moving on....that's it
Just wondering if a student who is graduating has to enter the portal to be eligible to play at another school.
Could Brown have graduated, gotten rejected for Stanford masters while being accepted at not-Stanford U, not declared for the portal, gone to university that accepted her, and played for that school with her year of eligibility left?
Is there a benefit to the portal at this point?
Good question, PV.
I think MT supplied the most sensible answer.
P.S. I have same question with grad transfers who have eligibility remaining for football and basketball: why not stick around as a Stanford undergrad a bit longer and play your final season? Anna Wilson was here 6 years. Was she in a grad program her fifth year? (I assume yes by year 6). How many years has Jenna been on The Farm?
