I apologize if this has been asked/answered already:  once a player is in the portal, is there a protocol as to who makes the first contact (i.e. the player or the school)?

And in theory, can't a player transfer academically without entering the portal? (IIRC we had a WVB grad transfer do that last year, but what about an undergrad?).

Obviously academic quals are the key factor, but it seems like direct contact is prohibited until the player enters the portal, and I was just wondering how the next steps would work at Stanford.
