Thanks for that YouTube video, PalmTree. That was an incredible run! But can someone please explain the purpose of the white flags?

That would signify that no one is running inside their assigned lane and/or cut in too early after the first turn.

But some officials were still raising white flags on the second lap, when assigned lanes weren't a thing anymore.
