By scheduling both Southern California and Stanford they will be sure to play in recruit-rich California every year.

That's pretty much it. They kinda like playing with another prestigious University that every once in a while has a good football team.
But if Stanford were to relocate to Idaho (with all the prestige and tradition), ND would probably discover a rivalry with Kal!

And....if history is a guide for this action...they expect to win 8 out of every 10 of their games against us. Foolhardy decision on their part!

Well, 6.5 games out of 10, to be precise.
