One difference is that a set of doubles tennis takes a lot less time and energy than a round of golf. I also don't find it as compelling as tennis in the sense that the matchups actually matter in tennis, as one player may just not match up well against another's playing style. Match play is just about who plays the course better, so there's less mileage to be gotten from the match-up component.
