Sure, Tiger was sometimes short with reporters when he was younger, but he was arguably the most famous athlete in the world. The demands on his time were different. Jordan Spieth can be generous and gracious because he knows he wakes up every morning in a house that Tiger Woods built. Also, Spieth could likely walk through most malls in America without being bothered or even recognized. That makes a lot of things a lot easier.
But back to Tiger. Like most of us, age and children and adversity have all given Tiger some much needed perspective. Part of the reason for his success -- and you can say this about all elite athletes, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Brady -- is that he was focused on himself to a fault. He clearly sees things differently now, and his interactions with the press and even with fans are completely different.
