I don't think this is an NIL collective. It seems more like an NIL facilitation engine in Cal-adjacent branding for current Cal athletes. It's like Patreon or OnlyFans, and that website that does quick videos that Joe Montana invested in IIRC.

An NIL collective is money collected to induce recruited athletes to play for a school. Its effectively boosters buying players through a loophole the NCAA doesn't want open, but has no ability to close.

I've seen no evidence Cal has put one of those together. Maybe this Marshawn Lynch- backed initiative is ultimately going to grow into such a thing, but Cal is losing commits because other schools are offering NIL deals as a lure to get players and Cal doesn't have anything to match.

You're thinking of Cameo (which is a cool platform albeit pricey IMO), and otherwise spot on. It's more of a "collective" in name only at the moment until it evolves into an actual booster-led recruit-inducement group.
