The middle of the road argument between apathy and incompetence is that the football program is under review with several options on the table. The options are complicated by the tremendous change in the FBS landscape over the last year.
It could be that the status quo will be sustained while the analysis and decision is being made. Why try to recruit a new football coach at a very high salary when they don't know at what level they will be competing or even if there will be a football coaching job in 3 years?
Could the trustees be considering joining/forming a new conference that would place stricter limits on NIL deals?
