Restating the obvious, neither ND nor Stanford are good football teams. Yesterday, Stanford was better. As is always the case, what Stanford does next week is critical. Shaw said this victory was "a first step". If this step is going to mean anything, it is the direction of the next step that matters. One thing that we all can consider a positive, no matter what our thoughts on other aspects of Stanford football may be, is that this team clearly has not quit.
Hopefully our next encounter with ASU will bear little similarity to the last one. As we saw last Saturday, the "impossible" can happen. This next game should be one of the more "winnable" games on our remaining schedule. Lets hope the team has success. Both teams will be 2-4. ASU will be coming off a bye.
