No one has mentioned yet that we defeated Oregon (at Oregon) 1-0 last night, and will move on to Oregon State at noon on Sunday.
I found it something of a frustrating win to watch--one of those things about soccer-- in that we completely dominated Oregon, getting off 32 shots to their 3 shots, but only managed to get 1/32 into the nets. Furthermore, this happened on our very first shot, by Kostmayer at the 6 minute mark, meaning that for the next 84 minutes we were kicking into a brick wall. If there were a time-of-possession stat we probably would have dominated 5:1. Our shooting accuracy was not great, with 9/32 shots on goal, but a couple of those 9 were very close--one bouncing off the bar, another forcing a really really good save. Fortunately, unlike UCLA, we never turtled but kept going for the 2nd goal. Regardless, it is another win, and yet more evidence that Kostmayer is special.
