For what it's worth here are the Total QBR rankings for that class of QBs so far this year:
21. Trevor Lawrence
23. Justin Fields
24. Zach Wilson
29. Mac Jones
31. Davis Mills

One can quibble with the order but I think it's clear Mills hasn't played well enough to make the Texans' decision remotely difficult. He really needs to turn it on the rest of the way. There are two things working against him. First, not only is his individual performance not great but he hasn't been getting wins, which means that the Texans are in line for a very high pick. One of the things Mills could have done this season to protect himself would have been to have played the Texans into a draft slot in which they could have only gotten a top QB by trading up. Second, the Texans are in line to have two very high picks in this draft. Currently I believe they're in line for the #2 and #9 picks.
The combination of Mills' performance and the Texans' draft slots makes it very likely they'll draft somebody among CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, or Will Levis.
