Doms has missed 4 games and played limited minutes in many others. I assume she has been dealing with an undisclosed injury. However, she played a full 90 minutes in the Colorado game so I assume she's reasonably healthy now, which is great heading into the tournament.
As the UCLA game showed, our defense and goalkeeping can keep us in any game. So, while we won't be favored, a title run is at least possible (assuming Elise Evans wasn't seriously injured last week). I agree we should be much stronger next season (especially if Doms and Wesley decide to come back for their extra COVID year of eligibility). We know 4 of the 6 seniors are coming back, but they haven't revealed which ones yet. Thompson hopefully will come (she's so good she could decide to skip college soccer altogether). With her we are the favorite. Without her we are one of the favorites. Kitihata is world class and hopefully will be back to the form she displayed in the U20 CONCACAF tournament. And beyond Thompson we have some amazing frosh coming in, including Mia Bhuta, who looked great at the recent U17 Women's World Cup.
