Oregon never offered him a job. His agent did amazing PR work to get him extended, to the point where everyone still thinks they did.
I believe the Ducks did make an offer (contingent upon several factors) based upon the credibility of those who stated an offer was made. Where things got messy was the contingencies. They were problematic for Wilcox.
Now Cal is on the hook for a h.uge buyout (due to the extension) if they want to make a change anytime soon and Oregon found a guy who appears to be a good fit. Good for the Ducks, bad for the Bears.
