As we have seen, Shaw supporters still maintain he can right the ship. They reason that his past success is proof that he can win again and, hence, there is no need for change. I am sure these are the only people Shaw listens to, and there are far more of them than we think there are. So Shaw will look at his reflection in the mirror and say:
"Tough breaks this year. The team had so much promise. We were just a couple of plays away from bowl eligibility. We worked and practiced hard, but, yeah, injuries can't be planned. That's football.... But I am hopeful for 2023. I think we will be a snake in the weeds."
