Hints: 
1) Two different pitchers, but their careers overlapped.
2) They both played on the same team once.
3) Both spent at least one season in the SF Bay Area.
4) One's a Hall of Famer.

Steve Carlton is one.  (I’ll go with career) Classic balk move. Also picked off a lot of guys.

Edit - I looked it up after posting. I was right on Carlton being career leader. Surprised by season leader. When others weigh in and somebody gets it, I’ll fill in the backstory. Very interesting. I remember it. Interesting stuff.
