You only need to try running in Santa Fe once to always remember it’s the answer. Today drove past a sign on 90 in MA Berkshires that declared it the highest point on 90 east of South Dakota… at about 1900 feet.?

Yup, by the 7000s+ it starts to get noteworthy.  Mammoth CA is at 7800 and I feel the strain of walking uphill there when coming from sea level.  Bishop, by comparison, is 4200 and I feel nothing in particular at that elevation.
