With a four goal lead, Stanford was playing the clock, not UCLA at the time. Kill time on offense, play tough D. It worked well.
They even extended it to a 5 goal lead!
As it happened, I started watching on my phone when it was 12-8 with about 4 or 5 minutes left. Then my stream hung after the timeout with 3 minutes left and I missed the rest, sigh.
UCLA pulled their goalie and went 7 on 6. Works well, until it doesn't. When Stanford got the ball, the field player in net had no chance.

Biola had their chances, mostly lobs that didn't quite make it in the net. What says the most about Stanford's defense is that Biola had 9 power plays and didn't score. It isn't that Stanford pulled a UConn: Stanford played 25 players, with 12 scoring. But just being in the NC championship is remarkable for a 2nd year team, obviously with players pulled from other schools.
The commentator said that it was Stanford's first shut out in years (I think he said 7), pretty amazing. Stanford's back up goalie Jackie King played the last three quarters, apparently.
Free Phogge!!!! And no, crimson doesn't refer to the Tide.
