First depth chart!
I made several changes to the grid.
1) Starters. With all the "or" demarcations on the depth chart, it's hard to know who the actual starters will be. So I just marked the first name listed on the depth chart. Hopefully things will get clearer.
2) Removals. I finally removed SR WO C Max Kalny and SO WO DL Kaz Melzer from the grid; both have retired.
3) Grid Positioning Decisions. On the official roster, FR WOs Adam Rourke and Camus Rooney are both still listed strangely as "defensive backs," while all other defensive backs are assigned as either cornerbacks or safeties. This could be because the coaches have not yet decided which position these two will play, but I think it is more likely that the official roster is still in disarray. It's pretty messy. For instance, for a while, FR RB Sedrick Irvin was listed as a wide receiver, but now he is back listed at running back. In addition, FR WO QB Brayden Hagle is listed as a wide receiver; this would be a pretty drastic position switch, so I left him at quarterback in the grid pending confirmation. And there are two instances where apparent position switches are not reflected on the official roster: JR Austin Uke is listed as a defensive lineman on the roster but is then listed on the depth chart as an offensive guard, and 5th YR TR Spencer Lytle is listed as an inside linebacker on the roster but is on the depth chart as an "edge" (outside linebacker); for now, I have put them in the grid as guard and outside linebacker, respectively, as reflected in the depth chart.
4) Position Changes. In addition to Uke and Lytle, I have made several position switches in the grid to reflect what the official roster claims. FR Tre Wiliiams goes from inside linebacker to outside linebacker. JR Jaden Slocumb goes from safety to cornerback. SR WO Kiersten Lee goes from outside linebacker to inside linebacker. And, in a more dramatic switch, JR WO Kale Lucas goes from wide receiver to safety. I also made some position switches in the grid to reflect depth chart claims on the offensive line. It is tough to tell if offensive linemen are positioned at tackle, guard, or center because all are simply listed as "offensive line"; I am sure that this allows for position switches, but it is sort of annoying as I am sure they are practicing with a position group. As those who have played offensive line will tell you, the positions are not easily interchangeable. At any rate, SO Jake Maikkula has moved from tackle to guard, JR TR Trevor Mayberry is officially playing guard, SR Levi Rogers has officially moved from guard to center.
Please feel free to offer any insights. Some of you watch practices or talk to coaches, so would have information that would correct me.
