This was the first full NFL game I've watched in ages, and it was well worth it. Not only was Andrew great, the announcers, particularly Mike Mayock, were absolutely gushing all night long. Not surprisingly, it wasn't just about the football. At one point he scrambled eight or ten yards for a first down, and went into a slide just after getting the first. A Jacksonville defender dove to make the tackle and hit Luck just after he began the slide. It didn't appear to be a dirty play at all, just a situation where the defender is caught in no man's land -- I think he started to dive for the tackle before Luck started his slide. Regardless, he got the flag. Luck's offensive line immediately came onto the scene, looking to let the defender know this wasn't acceptable. Andrew simply popped up, but his hands in the chests of his linemen and turned them back around towards the huddle so nothing silly happened. A minute later the Jacksonville defender sought out Luck and shook his hand.
Watching Luck play in the NFL must be something close to what it feels like to have a child go off to college. I knew he couldn't stick around forever, I'm so grateful for all the memories I have of his time at Stanford, and I'm incredibly proud to watch him succeeding at the next level.Â

Please clear the field! The game is not over!
