Another excellent preview. This is my first wbb post this season. I'm not an expert on Stanford basketball although it becomes my favorite sport to watch in January.
While Belmont is not ideal for RPI and building a tournament resume, I think it's a game Stanford needs to continue sorting things out.
I like Nunu. Reminds me a little of Charles Barkley. She's put time in the weight room for a young kid. In today's game you almost have to put a physical presence on the court when the refs let the sport turn into a hockey fight. In the Duke game she didn't seem to have her mojo at full tempo.
I like Bosgana a lot. She has the defensive tenacity of a Hull sister and is willing to mix it up under the basket. I believe she can be a good shooter and is part of the solution but not sure the coaching staff agrees with that at the moment.
I think Lepolo is the best possible option for point guard. Maybe won't score many points but is Stanford's best player at bringing the ball up the court. Stanford will face much tougher presses than what Duke did.
Maybe Demetre has the potential but Stanford needs players to show up when they get on the court and establish a track record the staff can count on in critical games. I would not put her in the starting five at this point.
This Belmont game gives all the players a chance to show what they can do and still come away with a win. I'll be listening, not watching.
