This is only a guess on my part, but I would expect all WBB recruits are going to be "concerned" going forward that Tara may retire during their tenure. If that happens, one really doesn't know what to expect from the program going forward. I would be surprised if competing schools do not point this out, "with all due respect" of course. While any coach may leave for any reason at any time, some such departures are more plausible than others. It is IMO undoubtedly a factor in recruits decision process.

By the way, Geno is 9 months younger than Tara and, as I recall, was unable to coach for a short while due to health reasons.  I'm not aware of Tara having any health issue impact her coaching.

I'd also point out that other coaches are more likely to move to a different school, or to get fired if they have a bad season.  That won't happen to Tara.
