The quarterfinals will be the expected 1v4 and 2v3 match-ups. In fact, the favorite and higher seed has won EVERY game so far.
Let’s hope that record is at leas 11-1 10-1 when the tournament concludes.
I was a PoliSci major so I admit I may be missing something, but this math doesn’t add up for me…
Yes, should be 10-1. Here's how the math works out.
Initial Games: 4. (The lower 8 seeds played in four games to determine who would meet the top 4 seeds in the quarter finals.)
Quarter Final Games: 4 (Top Four seeds each played a surivivor from the initial round)
Semi Final Games: 2 (In this case 1v4 and 2v3; Winners go to the Finals)
Final 1 (Hopefully Stanford!)
Favorites won the first 8 games leading to the semi-finals. For Stanford to win the championship we need the favorite to win two more games. I don't care who wins the UCLA/USC game - could they both please lose by 99? Probably not.
So ... we need favorites to at least go 10-1 although 11-0 also works! :)
In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.
