I know what you mean, Bob, but the competition is not just athletic, but frankly financial. No more "40-year decision" anchoring our brand. Until and unless the NCAA puts together a cohesive policy on disclosure of NIL deals, we are just shooting in the dark. Of course, that assumes we know something about what ammo other schools have at their disposal. From what I can tell, some states (e.g. Louisiana) are hiding public knowledge of NIL deals behind the Freedom of Information Act.
IMHO opinion all schools and athletes should be required to disclose terms of all NIL and endorsement deals, including where the money is specifically coming from, and any related incentive clauses. Any athlete failing to do so would be considered "professional" and ineligible for NCAA competition.
Hard to see how level the playing field is when we don't even know the boundaries. Then we can decide if, and how, we want to compete.
