I hate the idea of a regional conference comprised of select MWC schools, OSU, WSU, Stanford and Cal.  It would be nothing more than a gloried version of AAA minor league baseball.  The “good news” comment was directed to Mick who suggested, “everyone is going to decide that they hate the travel and like the regional rivalries”.  

Okay, let's assume that regional conference. Let's say those schools, for a variety of reasons, recruit really well, have excellent attendance, and NFL rosters are packed with alums from those schools, compared with other conferences. Even Stanford's games will be packed when Stanford goes 11-2.

How would you feel about it then?

 My reaction  would be “who cares?”   Right now .stanford is a national school with a national fan base. People outside of California , Washington and Oregon could care less about Oregon State , Washington State.  They do t even know where the MWC schools are and that’s true even if you spot them the Mountain and the West.  Further, the level of athlete we would be attracting to Stanford would be MWC level.  

Stanford stands for excellence .  We would be better off not playing then being in a MWC like conference. 

Sorry if that comes across as harsh. But we are not all sequestered in the west coast.
