He's barely playing. Is he injured?
I think Luckie is the better receiver of their three main TE's. A coach mentioned his shoulder injury coming into the summer, and implied that the SEC game is perhaps a bit too fast for Yurosek. Some of the posters on the Dawg board have stated that he's a poor blocker. Others have stated he's having a hard time picking up the Georgia system.
Too bad. Should have gone somewhere he was really needed....or stayed.
But I have to admit that our vaunted Tight End U has become more like Tight End Remedial
Stanford is Tight End University. Just ask Ryan Wetnight, Levine Toilolo, Kaden Smith, Alex Smith, Dalton Schultz, Konrad Reuland, Jim Price, Brett Pierce, Colby Parkinson, Bob Moore, Teyo Johnson, Austin Hooper, Coby Fleener, Tucker Fisk, Zach Ertz, Chris Dressel, Jim Dray, Tony Cline, Greg Clark, and Greg Baty
As of 2020, Sports Illustrated considered Stanford to be Tight End U.

A year ago, ESPN ranked us #4:

Notably, Georgia is not on either list.
Until now
Much as I appreciate Coach TT I don’t think he thinks of a TE as much more than a needed blocker
Here’s our TE usage so far based on our completions:
Opponent TotRec TERec TERec%
TCU. 18. 2. 11
Cal poly. 26. 4. 15
Syr. 23. 4. 17
Clem. 13. 0. 0
VaTech. 14. 3. 21
Total. 94. 13. 14
All the TE rec have been to one guy, Roush, other than 1 to Blackburn
Sadly, Doesn’t seem like Coach emphasizing TE U any more.
