Wilcox got himself in a hole by going for two on their first TD and failing, then being forced to go for two on their second TD and also failing. That created the two-point gap vs. Pitt; then Cal's kicker came up short in the 4th quarter. 17-15 Pitt. Cal looks decent, but they have had issues closing.
I root for whoever is playing the Trojans because of USC's role in torpedoing the Pac-12. It is gratifying to see them at 1-3 in the conference which their greed compelled them to join. But to be truthful, Penn State won in OT with some significant help from the refs, who failed to call two PI penalties during USC's offensive series. Those were blatant missed calls; and the outcome might have been quite different if even one of them had been flagged. Good to see USC lose, but it's bad for the sport when that kind of officiating ineptitude occurs.
